City Council Meeting: 07/19/10

I'd like to take a moment to welcome the City's Finance Director Dorothy Wisniewski back to the office!  I know that her new baby boy is going to keep her busy!

Tonight's meeting was sedate; after a brief conversation over the City's new snow removal plan, we began a conversation on the Miner Street Tavern and it's 4am liquor license.  Legal and Licensing Committee Chairman Robinson led the group to a 4-4 tie.  The Mayor broke the tie to deny the transfer of license from father to son-in-law.  Together with Aldermen Robinson, Brookman, and Argus, I voted to deny the transfer.

Also of note: Alderman Robinson was appointed to serve on the Des Plaines Library Board of Trustees (State library law allows one alderman to serve on an appointed municipal Library Board) following the abrupt resignation of current Board President Noreen Lake.  Together with Moylan appointees Moylan-Krey, Tsalapatanis, Kendrick (3rd Ward Resident), and Mokry, Alderman Robinson represents the 5th (and majority) vote on the board.  This should chance the dynamic quite a bit.
